Maxis, the company that releases those massively popular Sims games has gone and done it again. They have sent Sims fanatics into a flurry with the release of their latest expansion pack: The Sims Hot Date. The game is just what it sounds like: a whole universe of Sims romantic possibility. As if the Sims didn’t get into enough trouble as it was, now they can date themselves into wonderful romantic confusion. Dating in the Sims has always been around. But in the Sims Hot Date, those lovable virtual characters can go Downtown and date the Townies. This was not previously possible in earlier versions of the game. Before, the Sims were restricted to dating only in the same neighborhood. That’s kind of like you and I, only dating people from our own zip code: sure, it can be done, but who really wants to be so restricted? Now, your favorite Sims are unfettered and free. They are single and looking for the next hot date that just might prove their soul mate.

Who are the Townies, and why do they live Downtown? When you have played the Sims long enough, you get used to these various labels and designations. Downtown is simply an area away from the Sims neighborhood. The Townies are simply known as the Townies because they live in town. Makes sense, doesn’t it? How can you bring your Sims characters Downtown? It’s too far for them too walk, so you’ll have to make sure they procure a cab that can take them all the way. You can have your Sims date in groups if you want. You can ask another adult Sims to accompany you downtown for a double date. Or you can make Downtown your fabulous destination by inviting another neighborhood Sims character to come with you Downtown for a date. Or you can prowl the city on your own. You an always have your Sim head downtown solo to explore and possibly make a love connection.

What sort of places should a single guy or gal head to Downtown? There are loads of fun lots to choose from. For instance you can take a hot date to the fancy restaurant, the beach, the park, the quaint little shopping mall, the bars, the boardwalk, or a small diner. Part of the fun of playing the Sims Hot Date expansion pack is that you can create your very own Downtown. You can design it with every dream destination that you want. You can share your favorite Downtown lots and other features with fellow Sims players, and vice versa. The Sims Hot Date does not put any fussy restrictions on how you choose to design and build your Downtown. You are provided with unlimited funds, every architects dream. But that doesn’t mean you get a striking Downtown loaded with amenities and shops for free. No, your Sims will slowly pay for the costs of Downtown over time. Every time they purchase something and pay sales tax, they are paying for the cost of their lovely Downtown. Be forewarned: every time you head downtown, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. Dating is not cheap.

In the Sims Hot Date expansion pack, you will have access to situations that were previously not possible. Sims can choose from a variety of dating styles that range from friendly flirting to aggressive come-ons. The choice is up to you. The Sims Hot Date also elevates the kiss to a whole new level. Sims characters now have access to six new types of kisses. These include a simple peck, a polite kiss, a suave kiss, a romantic kiss, a passionate kiss, and a fiery smacker.

When you think of computer games, your mind probably doesn’t automatically think of death. But if you are one of the millions of gamers that play The Sims, death is something you will eventually have to consider. Even though The Sims is a game, the rules of life and death correlate with those of real life. If you decide to “kill off” one of the Sims characters, you should know that you cannot bring the character back. With this in mind, if you decide to off one of the Sims characters, make sure that you really want them gone, because one they are gone, there’s no bringing them back.

Although the Sims characters go through several life stages, they do not die naturally. You are responsible for your character’s demise. There are four basic ways to off a Sims character. They can be summed up into four general categories: fire, drowning, starvation and electrocution. Many Sims gamers agree that one of the easiest ways to kill a Sims character is through the use of fire. In fact, it is possible that perhaps you have already lost one or two Sims characters due to a fire accident. Many gamers also agree that death by fire is actually one of the quickest and least painful ways for your characters to die. If you decide to off one of the Sims characters through fire, make certain that there is not a fire alarm in sight. If there is a fire alarm in the vicinity, there’s a good chance that a fire fighter may arrive just in time to put the fire out. If you decide that fire is the way to go, here are a few tips on how the deed can be done. Cooking is one of the easiest ways to start a fire. If the Sims character that you are trying to off has a low cooking point, have them cook at the stove. Chances are, they will start a fire. Another way to off a character through fire is to have them set off fireworks indoors. Finally, you can also have your character set off fireworks indoors. This is a sure-fire way to start a fire.

Another way to off a Sims character is through the difficult to watch method of starvation. Many gamers agree that this is one of the crueler ways to watch a Sims character die. The process of starving a Sims character is simple enough. Simply sequester the character into the kitchen, and do not fulfill their fun, hunger or hygiene needs. Eventually, the character will die. If this sounds too slow and painful for your taste, you can also electrocute your Sims characters. Electrocution is not a very efficient way to off a Sims character, but many gamers find the challenge worth it. Death by electrocution can often be difficult to achieve. Most of the time, electrocution occurs as the Sims character is trying to make a mechanical repair, or replace a light bulb. Theoretically, there is only a one percent chance that the character will die through electrocution. However, the chances of electrocution increase if the character does not possess good technical skills. Electrocution can also be managed if you can get the character to use an electrical device while standing in a pool of water.

Finally, there is the option of drowning. Like electrocution, drowning is not the most efficient way to off a character. Like starvation, it is also one of cruelest ways to go. The process is simple enough: have your Sims character swim in a pool. When they are in the center of the pool, remove the ladder. The character will eventually tire out, and if you neglect to provide them with a ladder, they will eventually die.
