Has it been forever since your last vacation? Every one deserves some time off from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but if you just can’t get away, why not get away with the Sims. You can live vicariously through your Sims characters with the vacation expansion pack. In fact, the whole thing might not be such a bad idea. Think of it this way: you don’t have to pack, put up with airport hassle or lost luggage, and of course it’s positively free! Actually, when you think of it, going away on vacation with the Sims might not be such a bad idea after all.

The Sims Vacation is another in a long line of popular expansion packs for the Sims games. Expansion packs are kind of like accessory packs for the Sims games. They give you access to brand new situations, characters, goals, and objects. Expansion packs keep the Sims game fun, interesting and feeling new. In the Sims Vacation expansion pack, the whole Sims clan is going away on a fun island vacation. They can also go camping or climb a snowy mountain.

The game play of Sims Vacation is pretty straightforward. Simply choose a vacation option and call a cab to your vacation destination. The cab will soon arrive to pick you and your family up, and off you will go on your vacation adventure. There are a total of nine lots to choose from in Sims Vacation. Each lot has its own theme. The themes are forest, winter, or tropical. If you choose winter, for instance, your family will have access to lodging in a snowy igloo. Or you can choose to stay in a warm climate hotel, if this sounds more pleasing to you. The whole Sims family can also go camping the forest, or camp out right on the beach. The main destination is the island. There is so much to do on the island, you might not be tempted to leave it. Here is just a brief list of the things you can do on the island. You can hunt for buried treasure with the kids, go swimming or snorkeling, have fun snowball fights, play carnival games for which you can win souvenirs, play a mean game of volleyball, make sandcastles with the kids, and poke around for fish. Wherever you go on Sims vacation, you can find something fun to do.

Many Sims gamers have noted that Sims Vacation is one of the best expansion packs for kids. Indeed, this pack has a lot to keep the kiddies entertained. The Sims Vacation gives you the option of increased family interaction. If the kids are acting up, parents have the option to scold them. If parent and child are feeling happy and affectionate, the possibility of a warm hug is always available to them. Parents can even rough house with their kids. There are many activities that can be done together. Parents and kids can build snowmen, for instance, or go fishing together.

Sims gamers have also been impressed by the improved graphics of the Sims Vacation. The Sims Vacation does indeed contain some great graphics. There is however the usual problem of objects that bleed through the walls. The sound of the game is the usual Simlish, but there are a few new sounds that have been added to keep things interesting.

Installing the Sims Vacation is simple enough, as are most of the Sims expansion packs. Of course, installation will depend on your computer—how much RAM and hard drive space you have, and the processor speed. Most users have reported smooth sailing with Sims Vacation.
