Sequel City – An Overall Take on The Sims 2
The popular Sims franchise has spawned dozens of popular games that put the destinies of the various Sims characters in your hands. The great attraction of playing the Sims game is that you can control the lives of a fun and idiosyncratic bunch of characters. You are in charge of their career choices, love lives, social connections, and even the clothes they wear and the food they eat. What should you know about the differences between the original Sims game and Sims 2? Here is a brief overview of the differences and an overall take on the Sims 2.
The Original Sims: This is the game that started it all, and it is still enormously popular. The Sims can be rightly described as one of the best simulation games ever created. Chances are if you get started, you will end up playing for hours. Even casual players can attest to the addictive hold that the Sims game has on users. Why choose to play the original Sims over other spin-offs? The original Sims is like the touchstone: it contains all the elements that made this game so fun to play in the first place. The original Sims game lets you create your own families, neighbors, and neighborhood. You can design, build and decorate your own house. The game also allows you to download lots of user creations. You are responsible for building up your characters skills and have them operate successfully as a family unit. You are also responsible for getting your characters to advance in their jobs and make social connections. The original Sims game also lets you do all those real-life things: have babies, get married, throw parties, and the mundane things like eating and sleeping.
Sims 2: Of course, if you are a fan of the original Sims game, there’s a good chance that you will also want to play its popular sequel, Sims 2. In fact, most gamers agree that there has never been as much anticipation for the release of a computer game that compares to the excitement generated by the release of Sims 2. The second Sims game has also become a mainstay for retaining the best parts of the original Sims game, but also updating it with cool new features. Some of the most noteworthy updates include an updated 3D graphical environment. There is also a more complicated aspiration system, wherein your characters can demonstrate their fears and wants. The characters relationships to one another are also much more clearly defined. For instance, in Sims 2, the characters have an awareness of who they are related to and there is even note of shared DNA. Perhaps one of the biggest updates is the fact that characters in Sims 2 can age more realistically. In Sims 2, characters are born, proceed into childhood, adolescence, adult, and eventually become elders. One of the drawbacks of the Sims 2 is that it requires a more powerful system to run the program. However, most users agree that this is a small price to pay in order to play the game.
One of the new developments in Sims 2 is the Make a Child feature that allows you to create a new family by having parents pass on their genes to their children. The characters have an acute understanding of their family tree. They know how they are related to one another, and the family connections can get quite complex. Characters can have children, but unlike ‘real life,’ the Sims pregnancy lasts a total of three days. Strangely enough, men can also become pregnant in Sims 2, but it happens in a strange way: aliens must abduct them!
