When you are done removing the game files manually, you should follow a specific order when you reinstall the files. Assuming you own the following expansion packs, here is the order that you should use to reinstall. First, install the original base game The Sims. Then install the Sims Livin’ Large, followed by the Sims House Party, the Sims Hot Date, the Sims Vacation, the Sims Unleashed, the Sims Superstar, and finally the Sims Makin’ Magic.

To get your hands on the Sims eraser, simply check out the installation CD that is located in the Eraser folder. If you can’t find the Sims eraser located on your installation CD, you can also download it for free from the official Sims website. The file is small, roughly 68 kb.

Another sign that you may need the help for the Sims eraser is if the game keeps crashing when you are loading the neighborhood. If the game keeps crashing, this may mean several things. It can mean that you downloaded a corrupt file. Or at least your computer is reading it as a corrupted file. If you find that you have to uninstall the programs, and then reinstall them later, it’s a good idea to have the Sims eraser ready. This is because every time you uninstall a program, it tends to leave a trace on your computer. If you do have to uninstall your programs, you will need the use of the Sims eraser to ‘clean’ all traces of the programs. Once you have used the Sims eraser, you can reinstall the files and launch them again. Without the Sims eraser, you will not be able to execute a clean reinstall. The Sims eraser is easy to download and use. Keep it handy in case you ever need to uninstall and then reinstall your Sims programs again.

Ghostly Happenings and How to Bring your Sims Ghost Back from the Dead

Published by Author under The Sims

So your favorite Sims character has died. Can you bring him or her back from the dead? Much has been said about how the Sims universe represents a virtual world to our own. It’s true; we do have many things in common with our favorite Sims. We are born, grow up, maybe we get married and have kids, we choose different career paths, we make friends, lose friends, attract lovers, then lose them. Eventually, both the Sims and us age and die. However, there is one difference that stands out between our world and the virtual Sims world. In the Sims world, the dead can be brought back from the other side. When death occurs, as it inevitably does, there are ways around it. However, you will not always be successful in bring back a beloved character from the brink of death, but it is always worth a try.

In the Sims Livin’ Large expansion pack, the Grim Reaper appears as a potent non-playable character. Just as you might expect, the Grim Reaper appears when a Sims character dies. You can get the other family member to plead with the Grim Reaper for the Sims life. Sometimes you will be successful, and sometimes the Grim Reaper will refuse your request. There is roughly a 50 percent chance that it can go either way. However, even if you lose the initial pleading, there still exists a small chance that the Grim Reaper will eventually spare the character’s life.

Another way to save a character from death is to use the always-popular cheat code. There exists a cheat code that allows you to revive a Sims character from death. You can do this by entering a specific code. First, you will have to enter cheat mode. Do this by pressing down on ctrl + shift + c. Then type, “move_object”. Next, click on the Grim Reaper, and then press delete. Repeat these keystrokes with the dead Sims character. If you have succeeded, the Sims icon should be showing crosshairs. Now click on the icon, and the once-dead Sims character should appear again on the screen. Here is another small trick that can keep one of your characters alive. Simply don’t save the game in which the character has died! If one of your characters suffers an accidental death, or you change your mind about offing a character, simply exit the game without saving it. This will ensure that they will still be alive once you log onto the game again.

If you are new to the Sims game, maybe you are wondering what happens to a family once one of its members dies. Like us, the Sims characters go through a period of mourning. Many Sims character will need to express their grief and mourn before being able to go one with their lives in a routine manner. The Sims do not have funerals. Instead, you will notice that when a Sims character dies, an urn or tombstone will appear in their place. You can choose to do many things with these objects. You can move them to a suitable location, and you can even sell them. If you choose to leave the tombstone or urn in a specific location, you will find that the other Sims characters will tend to stop to mourn every time they pass these objects. Some Sims will take longer to mourn than others. In general, the total initial mourning process takes roughly 48 hours. You should know that keeping the urn or gravestone on the family lot might make your Sims family more susceptible to being haunted!

Playing Right with the World of Warcraft Keyboard

Published by Author under Online Gaming, World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is a large, multi-layered, multi-player fantasy role playing game. It encompasses million of players, millions of computers, and millions of servers, clients and other necessary components. Yet how does it really work? How can a player, personifying him or herself on the screen in the form of an avatar, actually interact with other plays in the World of Warcraft universe? Simple, through the use of a World of Warcraft keyboard. A World of Warcraft keyboard can refer to both a normal keyboard configured to function within the game, or a specially-made keyboard that compliments the World of Warcraft gaming world perfectly.

A Tale of Two Keyboards

A normal PC or MAC keyboard is adequate for using during World of Warcraft game play. Basically, the game recognizes certain Word of Warcraft keyboard strokes: directional keys will trigger directional responses through the avatar on screen, and other keystrokes serve as direct commands. A World of Warcraft keyboard will also allow communication through the game; different words will trigger certain reactions, including yelling, screaming and other emotions. Also, the World of Warcraft keyboard can be used simply as a word processor during the game for the players to use to say whatever they want their characters to say in their environments.

Aside from the normal, built in controller functions, a World of Warcraft keyboard can also come configured were certain shortcuts. These World of Warcraft shortcuts bypass the need for the player to cycle through numerous menus in order to find the desired action. They can search their inventories, perform a variety of actions and even exit, save and restart the game without ever really having to pause what they are doing. These shortcuts can save invaluable time within the game. World of Warcraft keyboard configurations can also be personally manipulated; players can edit the automatic configurations, changing both the keystrokes and the actions. This allows for a higher-level of compatibility within the game; players who rely more on battle and fighting techniques can configure their keyboards differently than those who will rely on healing.

The designers of World of Warcraft have realized a specialized World of Warcraft keyboard.  Like most online games, a specialized keyboard makes game play even easier for players; the game realizes the special configuration, and players no longer have to adapt their normal keyboards to the necessary functions of the game’s universe. A World of Warcraft keyboard has a separate set of keys for certain controls within the game, yet the keyboard itself also contains a normal setup of keys, meaning the keyboard can be used in the place of a normal keyboard without inhibiting normal computing functions.  This World of Warcraft keyboard is designed with serious gamers in mind; a normal keyboard is adequate, but only those desiring quick, flawless response will bother spending the money for a personal World of Warcraft keyboard.

Time Management Tips for The Sims Family

Published by Author under The Sims

When playing The Sims, time management is crucial.  Your little family needs to have a balanced lifestyle, but because of the individual personalities that you designed this may be hard to do.  Some Sims make friends easier than others, some are neat freaks while others are slobs.  Ignore their needs, however, and they will not be able to get anything accomplished.  Too tired and they may pass out.  Too lonely and they will spend all day crying.  Too hungry and they may starve to death.  Here are some tips of ways to better manage your time with the Sims.

All Sims have needs.  They are pretty basic:  hunger, comfort, hygiene, bladder, fun, social, room, and energy.  The best way to manage your time is to look for activities that will fill multiple needs at once.

One thing to do is to buy comfortable seating for your house.  This can be chairs to go along with your chess set or dining room, or a nice couch to watch TV on.  A nice, comfortable chair will help fill some of your Sims’ comfort meter while they do the other activity, such as eating.  That way they can fulfill two needs at once.

Along the same lines, buying a comfortable bed is also a good move.  Buying the most expensive bed can cut up to an hour of Sim sleep time needed a day, leaving you with more time to do other activities around the house.

A hot tub can be a great way to fill three to four needs.  It can satisfy both comfort and hygiene needs at the same time, as well as has a fun capacity.  Put two or more Sims in the tub at the same time and you have a social aspect as well.  Watch out for leaky tubs though, and have the repairman on call to keep it in working order.

While your Sims need room, building too large of a house can be a disadvantage.  Your Sims will spend too much time walking from room to room and object to object.  You cannot afford a half hour walk from the stove to the dining room!  A better tactic is to increase the size of your rooms until the room score is maxed out.  Do not forget to add things such as windows, wallpaper, floors, and furnishings as you do so.  You will end up with more room for your Sims, but cut down on some of their in-house wanderings.

Adult Sims need to go to work, which generally entails catching the carpool.  However, you can delay going out to the car.  You do not have to greet the car at the door as it arrives.  As long as you have started walking to the car at least a minute before it leaves, it will not drive off without you.  You can use the extra time to put your Sim into the green on his or her other motives.  That will ensure that they will have the most successful day at work.  Happy Sims are more likely to get promoted and do better on the job.

Having messy Sims is not a problem.  If you do not give any points to neatness when you are creating your Sims, then obviously they will not clean up after themselves.  This is easy to remedy by hiring a maid.  Maid services start at $10 an hour, but that is a small price to pay considering that you can have your Sims busy doing other things instead of running around the house cleaning up.

With some practice, you should have no problems finding a schedule that works for your entire Sims family.  If not, you can always delete them and start over.

Feeding that Hunger – Helpful Sims Hints to be Fulfilled Hunger-wise

Published by Author under The Sims

When controlling your Sims, you will find that keeping them fulfilled hunger-wise is a crucial part of the game, albeit an annoying one.  But doing so can help keep your Sims much happier!  They build their social skills during meal time and have a chance to sit down and relax.  Plus the obvious, if you don’t feed them then they will die of starvation and turn into ghosts that are constantly raiding the refrigerator.

One of the best things that your Sims Family can do is to learn to cook.  First, you will need a variety of cooking objects.  Obviously, a fridge is very important.  Besides that, different appliances will give you different values to the meal.  Some items to consider are a microwave, a food processor, and a stove.  Do not forget to keep a smoke detector in the kitchen so your absent-minded Sim does not burn the house down!

Before you send your Sim into the kitchen, you must be sure that he or she has cooking skills.  Instead of earning skill points by practicing the craft, Sims earn cooking skills when they study cookbooks.  These can often be found in bookcases – all you have to do is choose the study option and cooking will be listed.  Make sure that your Sim has earned at least 2 points in cooking skills before they try to cook on the stove.  Your chance of your Sim starting a fire is also reduced with the higher cooking skill points that they have.

Next you have to decide who in the family should cook.  It does not matter which spouse does, instead, it often depends on the family’s work schedules and cooking abilities.  If your Sim has a higher cooking skill point than another family member, then his meals will be more satisfying.  Also, an average meal lasts about eight Sim hours after being cooked.  So breakfast can be cooked in the evening before bedtime, or dinner can be prepared in the morning before work.

Another way to improve the hunger satisfaction of your Sims is to invest in more expensive appliances as you are able to afford them.  For example, a stove cooks more satisfying meals than a microwave does, so your Sims will stay full longer.

If you are looking to save some money, here are some hints/cheats from other players.

For free groceries, order them to have them delivered.  When the delivery man arrives, do not send a Sim to answer the door.  After ringing the bell once or twice, he will leave the groceries on your doorstep and leave without taking your money.

Watch out with buying microwaves.  Microwaves can only cook TV dinners, which only satisfy two hunger points.  They also use up valuable cabinet space.  Only buy a microwave if your Sims eat a lot of TV dinners, you have extra money, your stove is a cheap one, you have extra cabinet space, or your Sims want to buy one.

It cost your Sim five simoleons every time they eat a snake from the fridge.  If you are on a tight budget, this can get pretty costly.  One way to try and get snacks for free is this:  As soon as they open the fridge door, cancel the action.  If you are quick enough, they will set the snack down on the floor.  Next, tell them to pick the snack back up.  They can eat it for free now!

These are just some of the tips for keeping your Sims happy and well fed.  With some experimentation, you can find the combination of schedules that works best for your scenario.

The Socialization of The Sims

Published by Author under The Sims

Sims need to be social.  This is one of the hardest motives to maintain.  Here are some tips for keeping your Sims in an active social life so that they remain happy and successful in their other areas.

First, when creating your Sims, always max-out the Outgoing and Nice attributes.  This will make maintenance of the Social motive much easier and allow you to build a 100 point relationship with another Sim at your first meeting.  A Sim that is not very Outgoing or Nice is difficult to build a relationship with.

Another thing to do at startup is to start with several Sims.  That way they can help keep each other’s Social motives up.  You can always kill them of later when your Sim’s life is more stable.  Usually you will want to keep around at least two Sims though, that way they can interact with each other.

Your Sims are not very smart.  Never, ever let them choose their own social interactions.  You will have to guide them along to avoid disaster.  Talk until their relationship is around 30 points.  Then have them compliment each other until their relationship points get to 60 points.  Lastly, have them hug until their relationship points equal 100.  Try to avoid having your Sims fall in love (unless you have plans for an ideal marriage union) as it can bring down their Social points if a spouse gets jealous.  Your Sims’ neighbors are always smarter than your Sims.  Allow the visitors to choose the activities – they will always choose the best activity available to raise their mood.

If your relations with your neighbors are not what they could be, you can try planning group events.  This can be a group meal that you invite them to attend, watching TV, dancing to music on the stereo at a house party, playing chess, or using the hot tub.  When your Sim is doing these activities, click on the neighbor and have them join in the fun.  The relationship between the two should go up without any negative reactions that sometimes happen if you try to build the relationship one on one.

Keep in mind that you have to take care of any friendships that your Sim creates.  The decay rate for a relationship is 2 points a day, so if they do not spend regular time with another friend, the relationship will eventually fade.  Then you will be back to square one and have to start over.  This is especially crucial for your career choices.  In order for a Sim to get to the top of his chosen career path, he usually needs a minimum amount of friends to do so.

Kids are a little different than adult Sims.  For them, fun is a more important factor in their mood than anything else, not to mention that it drains quickly.  Keep them involved in fun activities to keep their mood high.

The layout of your house is also an important factor for Sim relationships.  Lighting helps to make your room score go up, making relationship building easier.  Lamps are perfect for this objective.  Rooms that are intended for social use should be very large, and you might even consider rounding off the corners to prevent any shy Sims from getting lost.  Do not forget to add accessories such as a hot tub, which can fill many objectives at once.

Remember to always keep an eye on your Sim’s mood.  If they become depressed, they may spend all day in bed crying, which makes it impossible to get anything done, especially make new friends.

Keep in mind though, that if your Sim builds too good of a relationship with someone they may decide to get married.  If you do not want to see little baby Sims running around, you may want to keep all of your Sim relationships light.

Dying and Death, Sims Style

Published by Author under The Sims

When you think of computer games, your mind probably doesn’t automatically think of death. But if you are one of the millions of gamers that play The Sims, death is something you will eventually have to consider. Even though The Sims is a game, the rules of life and death correlate with those of real life. If you decide to “kill off” one of the Sims characters, you should know that you cannot bring the character back. With this in mind, if you decide to off one of the Sims characters, make sure that you really want them gone, because one they are gone, there’s no bringing them back.

Although the Sims characters go through several life stages, they do not die naturally. You are responsible for your character’s demise. There are four basic ways to off a Sims character. They can be summed up into four general categories: fire, drowning, starvation and electrocution. Many Sims gamers agree that one of the easiest ways to kill a Sims character is through the use of fire. In fact, it is possible that perhaps you have already lost one or two Sims characters due to a fire accident. Many gamers also agree that death by fire is actually one of the quickest and least painful ways for your characters to die. If you decide to off one of the Sims characters through fire, make certain that there is not a fire alarm in sight. If there is a fire alarm in the vicinity, there’s a good chance that a fire fighter may arrive just in time to put the fire out. If you decide that fire is the way to go, here are a few tips on how the deed can be done. Cooking is one of the easiest ways to start a fire. If the Sims character that you are trying to off has a low cooking point, have them cook at the stove. Chances are, they will start a fire. Another way to off a character through fire is to have them set off fireworks indoors. Finally, you can also have your character set off fireworks indoors. This is a sure-fire way to start a fire.

Another way to off a Sims character is through the difficult to watch method of starvation. Many gamers agree that this is one of the crueler ways to watch a Sims character die. The process of starving a Sims character is simple enough. Simply sequester the character into the kitchen, and do not fulfill their fun, hunger or hygiene needs. Eventually, the character will die. If this sounds too slow and painful for your taste, you can also electrocute your Sims characters. Electrocution is not a very efficient way to off a Sims character, but many gamers find the challenge worth it. Death by electrocution can often be difficult to achieve. Most of the time, electrocution occurs as the Sims character is trying to make a mechanical repair, or replace a light bulb. Theoretically, there is only a one percent chance that the character will die through electrocution. However, the chances of electrocution increase if the character does not possess good technical skills. Electrocution can also be managed if you can get the character to use an electrical device while standing in a pool of water.

Finally, there is the option of drowning. Like electrocution, drowning is not the most efficient way to off a character. Like starvation, it is also one of cruelest ways to go. The process is simple enough: have your Sims character swim in a pool. When they are in the center of the pool, remove the ladder. The character will eventually tire out, and if you neglect to provide them with a ladder, they will eventually die.

Plus, if your character happens to be a little short on cash, he or she can purchase a machine that they can use to make their own garden gnomes, which they can then resell to make some extra cash. Plus, Livin’ Large introduces a genie into the Sims universe.  You can probably imagine the fun and trouble your characters can cause with a genie. Like most Sims expansion packs, Livin’ Large introduces a wacky and colorful cast of non-playable characters. For instance, Livin’ Large gives you the opportunity to have more than just one neighborhood.

Diagnosing Problems when The Sims Game Crashes your System

Published by Author under The Sims

The Sims is one of those computer games that can become an all-encompassing addiction. If you get into the habit of playing this game, chances are you will push your computer to the edge. Most of the time, the Sims game is steady and reliable, but every once in a while, you may experience a system crash. This is not unheard of, and dedicated Sims gamers everywhere have developed a list of tricks and hints to keep your system humming and running nicely. Almost every Sims gamer has experienced a crash at one point or another.

Fortunately, most computer crashes can be easily solved. However, sometimes the problem is more substantive and requires more extensive solutions. As a general rule, you can expect to experience more crashes whenever you download or introduced something new to your Sims game. In the past, most crashes have been traced back to the addition of new skins, the installation of a new expansion pack, or downloading a new patch. Before you panic and begin to delete downloads or reinstall different applications, it’s a good idea to go through a checklist of the most common problems. This can help you rule out certain possibilities and arrive at a resolution more quickly.

Here are some troubleshooting questions that can help you narrow down the problem. First, make sure that your video drivers are updated. Are they updated for the version of the game that you are playing? Next, make sure that your system meets the minimum requirements for playing the game. If you have trouble installing the Sims game, check your system to make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements. If your system does meet the minimum requirements, check to see if you have enough free disk space. Most of the times, the system will inform you if you are lacking in disk space. But sometimes there will not be enough space and the system will not inform you automatically.

Another common problem that can result in a system crash has to do with downloads. Every time you download something for your Sims game, you risk the possibility of having the system crash on you. If your system crashes, ask yourself if you have recently downloaded any new skins. Did you download any new utility programs or patches? Another problem can arise from downloading objects from an expansion pack that you found online. If you do not own the expansion pack, there is a very real chance that you can be downloading questionable objects from expansion packs available online. Finally, make sure that you have not recently downloaded items that contain object ID conflicts. These are some basic troubleshooting questions that you should consider every your system is running sluggishly or simply crashes. If you find that you cannot resolve the problem on your own, don’t be shy about posting your problem on an online forum. Chances are, someone else has experienced the same problem, and can offer a helpful solution.

Besides the occasional system crashes, another major complaint from Sims gamers is the slow load time for the Sims game on some systems. This is especially common when the Sims is run on Windows XP. Gamers have noticed that Windows XP has had problems running the Sims Hot Date game. It appears that the expansion pack is to blame. This makes sense, since if you read the Sims Hot Date box and instructions carefully, you will notice that Windows XP is not listed as one of the supported systems. This doesn’t mean that you will never be able to run the Sims Hot Date on a Windows XP system, but you will probably experience increased load time.
